2017 Ole Miss Football Predictions

2017 Ole Miss Football Predictions

In the 2017 preseason ESPN Football Power Index that was released last week, the experts place Ole Miss at number 38. 10 SEC teams rank above the Rebels, including Alabama, Auburn, and LSU that all made the top 6. Though their might be a large number of naysayers writing the rebels off this year, we think they are in a good position to surprise us all!

The 2017 Ole Miss football schedule is much more favorable early on then in years past. If the Rebels can survive the September 16th showdown in Berkeley vs California, there is a great chance Ole Miss will roll into Tuscaloosa undefeated. After a two-week stretch in the state of Alabama, lets say the Rebels go 1 for 2, which in the minds of many would be a success! Ole Miss would then come back home to beat Vanderbilt and advancing to 5-1 on the season! Besides the LSU game the following week Ole Miss will likely be favored or a slight underdog in all of its remaining games. Assuming we make it through the month of October okay, there is solid chance the Rebels can pull of a nine or ten win season! If the Ole Miss football team can accomplish such a feat, it would speak volumes on the coaching staff, players, athletic department, and fans ability to all stick together through tough times. Go Rebs, the 2017 season cant get here soon enough!

Where do I Tailgate at Ole Miss, Grove or Circle?

On Fall gamedays in Oxford, Mississippi over 75,000 college football fans per game come to tailgate at Ole Miss. Some enjoy lifelong tailgating spots, while others come to experience Ole Miss tailgating for the first time. It is estimated that over 1,600 tents are setup on gameday and that over 2 million dollars of tailgating equipment is spread throughout campus. The setup and breakdown spectacle some of call the 8th wonder of the world. A 48 hour virtual tent city is assembled for every home football game makes the Ole Miss Grove one of the best tailgating experiences in the country.

But the question we always receive from our new customers is where should we be setup at, The Grove or The Circle? What’s the difference, what is the best spot for us to enjoy the season at? And our answer is always ‘Well it depends’! We broadly explain that The Grove is an area where more college students tailgate at and the Circle typically is more of a family atmosphere. The Circle has more lanes which helps with crowd density and The Grove for the big SEC games you might have to walk through 5-6 tents just to get to yours. The question: The Grove or The Circle inspired this blog article and below are a few more sources that might better answer this common question.

Our 2015 Ole Miss Grove Tailgating Experience!

Our 2015 Ole Miss Grove Tailgating Experience

Colton asked me to write a review for Tailgate Group regarding our visit to Oxford last fall. I began writing the basics about their customer service, how cool the Grove was, and a few other details; then I realized I am going to write a story instead of a review about my Grove tailgating experience at Ole Miss!

First, Oxford, Mississippi is one of the most charming small towns we have ever been too! We are from San Rafael, California and have traveled the world over the past half-century and can truly say last November in Oxford, we experienced one of the most unique and memorable places in this country!

We showed up for tailgating in the Grove early Saturday morning and arrived to our tent greeted with a remote control for our TV and some smoking BBQ from A and N’s catering! Mississippi BBQ for breakfast, yes I think so! Our tailgating setup was right along Willis Way, which was perfect! As the day progressed and the well-dressed men and women continued to pour by, my husband Kirk and I smiled at other and said, “Have we traveled back in time?” Everybody was so polite and well dressed; you don’t see that in other places across the world anymore. It was very refreshing!

The Grove at Ole Miss from start to finish was amazing, Ole Miss beat LSU that Saturday which was the icing on our cake, our tailgating experience was top-notch! Our friends are visiting this season and wait to hear what they think! Our 2015 Ole Miss Grove tailgating experience was amazing. Colton made me say this last part ha “If you want to tailgate in style, experience a hassle free Grove tailgating experience, choose Tailgate Group!

Ole Miss also has one of the toughest 2016 schedules in the country, which would prepare us well for a playoff scenario. With home games in Oxford Sep 17th and 24th vs Alabama and Georgia, the Grove and Vaught Hemingway Stadium are sure to be rocking! If the Rebels can make it through September we are well positioned to be in the running for an SEC and National Championship. Image a Ole Miss College Football playoff tailgate! We would do it right!

Join the fun this season in the Oxford Grove before the games and be a part of what could be a memorable season!

Ole Miss Wins The Sugar Bowl

2nd January 2016 by Gerry Hicks 2 Comments

Ole Miss Wins The Sugar Bowl

Ole so Sweet it is! Rebels took over the French Quarter this past week, celebrating the teams first Sugar Bowl appearance since 1970 when Archie Manning was the quarterback. New Years eve along Iberville and Royal St, Ole Miss fans crowded crowded the narrow one way street waiting in line for Acme Oyster’s famous Char-Grilled Oysters chanting ‘Hotty’ on one side of the street and ‘Toddy’ on the other. Energy was in the air the entire week, and team continued it Friday night in the Superdome.

Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl is a homecoming. I-55 southbound and I-10 from Biloxi were taken over by Rebels from all across the Magnolia State this week. Instead of a Grove tailgate, fans wandered the streets of the French Quarter and the CBD, bar hoping, and rendezvousing with Alumni of all ages. From Lucy’s to Pat O’s it was hard to forget that Ole Miss was playing in the Sugar Bowl this weekend!

Kelly to Tunsil for the touchdown as time expires off the clock in the first half. Ole Miss 34-6 at halftime in the 2016 All-State Sugar Bowl! You can already start to see the Sugar falling from the sky, its everywhere! The state of Mississippi is smiling and the party is just beginning because Ole Miss is about to win the Sugar Bowl and finish in the AP top 10.

I sit here Saturday morning after a wild night, proud as ever to be an Ole Miss Rebel. We all remember how tough things were just a few years back. Thank you Archie Manning for the wisdom to bring in Hugh Freeze and Ross Bjork. Both of these men and their staff’s have brought Ole Miss back! And I have a feeling a National Championship is just on the horizon…
